Alkoholen Delirium

"Alkoholen delirium" (Alcoholic Delirium) is the debut album of Bulgarian rock band Hipodil, released in 1993 under the now defunct Unison-RTM label. The album was released on audio cassette only and was never re-released on a CD though some tracks has been included in the band's Tu'pest compilation in 2000. The album immediately attracted the attention of the public with its explicit lyrics and unexpected musical content as punk music though not unknown in Bulgaria was rarely recorded and performed by local bands. However, the album also reflected the changes in Bulgaria which was desperately trying to cope with the legacy of Communist regime, overturned less than four years earlier. Hipodil enjoyed and even abused this newly bestowed freedom and that is quite visible in their otherwise poorly produced debut. They also rode the wave of the scandal which their lyrics inevitably provoked and soon the band had a cult following, mainly in Sofia and some other big cities of the country.
