Marriage Controversy

In mid-April 2008, the Russian paper Moskovsky Korrespondent stated that she was engaged to marry the Russian President Vladimir Putin in mid-June, after he left office. It sourced the news to a St. Petersburg based planner bidding to conduct the wedding reception. On 18 April 2008, in a press conference with Silvio Berlusconi, Putin addressed the article: "There is not a single word of truth ." While Putin had been abroad and unavailable for comment, Kabaeva's spokeswoman had already refused to discuss "this nonsense". in January 2011, Alina Kabaeva appeared on the cover of Vogue Russia.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or controversy:

    We lov’d, and we lov’d, as long as we could,
    Till our love was lov’d out in us both;
    But our marriage is dead, when the pleasure is fled:
    ‘Twas pleasure first made it an oath.
    John Dryden (1631–1700)

    And therefore, as when there is a controversy in an account, the parties must by their own accord, set up for right Reason, the Reason of some Arbitrator, or Judge, to whose sentence, they will both stand, or their controversy must either come to blows, or be undecided, for want of a right Reason constituted by Nature; so is it also in all debates of what kind soever.
    Thomas Hobbes (1579–1688)
