Style
In his work, Rockman uses the language of natural history to examine our relationship to it as a culture. He draws influence from the 19th century Hudson River School, and identifies his work as pop art, "using natural history as his iconography". Rockman has sometimes been associated with a New Gothic Art movement.

Famous quotes containing the word style:
“To write well, to have style ... is to paint. The master faculty of style is therefore the visual memory. If a writer does not see what he describescountrysides and figures, movements and gestureshow could he have a style, that is originality?”
—Rémy De Gourmont (18581915)
“One never tires of what is well written, style is life! It is the very blood of thought!”
—Gustave Flaubert (18211880)
“Where there is no style, there is in effect no point of view. There is, essentially, no anger, no conviction, no self. Style is opinion, hung washing, the calibre of a bullet, teething beads.... Ones style holds one, thankfully, at bay from the enemies of it but not from the stupid crucifixions by those who must willfully misunderstand it.”
—Alexander Theroux (b. 1940)
