The Aldwych Group is the group of students' unions of the members of the Russell Group of Universities in the United Kingdom. It was established in 1994, by Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis (who was General Secretary of LSE Union in 1994/5) as a watchdog in response to the creation of the Russell Group.
It is so called because its was established at a meeting at the London School of Economics and Political Science, which is located on Aldwych.
The current Chair is Laura Perry of Newcastle University Students' Union, who was elected in July 2012.

Famous quotes containing the word group:
“Now, honestly: if a large group of ... demonstrators blocked the entrances to St. Patricks Cathedral every Sunday for years, making it impossible for worshipers to get inside the church without someone escorting them through screaming crowds, wouldnt some judge rule that those protesters could keep protesting, but behind police lines and out of the doorways?”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1953)
