Death
On May 5, 1968, Dekker was found dead in his Hollywood home after failing to answer numerous phone calls for two days. Although money and camera equipment were missing, there were no signs of forced entry. He was found naked, kneeling in his bathtub with a noose wrapped around his neck that was looped around the shower's curtain rod. He was also handcuffed, blindfolded, gagged and had sexually explicit words scrawled on his body in red lipstick. The coroner's ruling was accidental death by autoerotic asphyxiation. Dekker was 62 years old.
He was interred at Garden State Crematory in North Bergen, New Jersey.
For his contribution to the motion picture industry, Albert Dekker has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6620 Hollywood Boulevard.

Famous quotes containing the word death:
“When Death to either shall come
I pray it be first to me.”
—Robert Bridges (18441930)
“Promise me solemnly, I said to her as she lay on what I believed to be her death bed, if you find in the world beyond the grave that you can communicate with methat there is some way in which you can make me aware of your continued existencepromise me solemnly that you will never, never avail yourself of it. She recovered and never, never forgave me.”
—Samuel Butler (18351902)
“The grief of the keen is no personal complaint for the death of one woman over eighty years, but seems to contain the whole passionate rage that lurks somewhere in every native of the island. In this cry of pain the inner consciousness of the people seems to lay itself bare for an instant, and to reveal the mood of beings who feel their isolation in the face of a universe that wars on them with winds and seas.”
—J.M. (John Millington)
