Famous quotes containing the words speaker of, speaker and/or parliament:

No other speaker of my living actions
To keep mine honor from corruption,
But such an honest chronicler as Griffith.”

—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“What is the historical function of Parliament in this country? It is to prevent the Government from governing.”
—George Bernard Shaw (18561950)
