Airdrie United F.C.
Airdrie United Football Club are a Scottish professional football team based in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. They are currently managed by ex-Airdrieonians player and former Airdrie United Under-19s coach Jimmy Boyle. They are members of the Scottish Football League and play in the Scottish First Division. Club Chairman Jim Ballantyne also serves as president of The Scottish Football League and sits on the board of The Scottish Football Association.
Airdrie have won two trophies in their short history – the Scottish Second Division in 2003–04 and the Challenge Cup in 2008–09. They have been described as "the luckiest team in the Scottish League" as the club have benefited in league division placements (due to other club's misfortunes) on 3 occasions (2008, 2009 & 2012). In July 2012, the club dropped the word United from their website name but are still officially known as Airdrie United FC.
