The ITM Cup consists of 14 teams of 26 players each, covering a substantial part of New Zealand, each team is under the governance of a union, e.g. Auckland is governed by the Auckland Rugby Football Union; each team is the top male representative team that the union has to offer.

The 14 teams that contest for the ITM Cup have not changed since 2006 launch of the competition, though the changes in 2011 means that the 14 can be moved between the Premier and Champion divisions:

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or teams:

For me, Romanticism is the most recent and the most current expression of beauty.
    Charles Baudelaire (1821–1867)

A sturdy lad from New Hampshire or Vermont who in turn tries all the professions, who teams it, farms it, peddles, keeps a school, preaches, edits a newspaper, goes to Congress, buys a township, and so forth, in successive years, and always like a cat falls on his feet, is worth a hundred of these city dolls. He walks abreast with his days and feels no shame in not “studying a profession,” for he does not postpone his life, but lives already.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
