Agent Extensibility Protocol

The Agent Extensibility Protocol or AgentX is a computer networking protocol that allows management of Simple Network Management Protocol objects defined by different processes via a single master agent. Agents that export objects via AgentX to a master agent are called subagents. The AgentX standard does not only define the AgentX protocol but also the procedure by which those subagents process SNMP protocol messages.

For more information, see RFC 2741 for the original definition of the protocol and the IETF Agentx Working Group.

Famous quotes containing the word agent:

The most durable thing in writing is style, and style is the most valuable investment a writer can make with his time. It pays off slowly, your agent will sneer at it, your publisher will misunderstand it, and it will take people you have never heard of to convince them by slow degrees that the writer who puts his individual mark on the way he writes will always pay off.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
