AWPs are often bought by equipment rental companies, who then rent them out to construction companies or individuals needing these specialised machines. The market for these machines is known to be marked by especially strong boom and bust cycles, and after a great demand in the 1990s (with up to 70,000 AWPs sold per year in the United States) the market crashed in the early 2000s, leading to a strong contraction amongst the manufacturers.

Famous quotes containing the words business and/or model:
“... hurled religiously
Upon your business of humility
Into the iron forestries of hell....”
—Allen Tate (18991979)
“I had a wonderful job. I worked for a big model agency in Manhattan.... When I got on the subway to go to work, it was like traveling into another world. Oh, the shops were beautiful, we had Bergdorfs, Bendels, Bonwits, DePinna. The women wore hats and gloves. Another world. At home, it was cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, going to PTA, Girl Scouts. But when I got into the office, everything was different, I was different.”
—Estelle Shuster (b. c. 1923)
