APT Today
The APT-E unit is now owned by the National Railway Museum and is on display at their Locomotion museum at Shildon in County Durham. Also at Locomotion is an APT-P power car, number 49006, which is due to undergo restoration work after having been stored outdoors at York for many years. Appropriately, the second APT-P unit is now on display at Crewe Heritage Centre (formerly known as The Railway Age) and can be seen from trains passing on the adjacent WCML.

Famous quotes containing the words apt and/or today:
“When they come downstairs from their Ivory Towers, idealists are very apt to walk straight into the gutter.”
—Logan Pearsall Smith (18651946)
“Indeed, the best books have a use, like sticks and stones, which is above or beside their design, not anticipated in the preface, not concluded in the appendix. Even Virgils poetry serves a very different use to me today from what it did to his contemporaries. It has often an acquired and accidental value merely, proving that man is still man in the world.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
