Addu City (local administrative code Seenu) is a city in Maldives consisting of the inhabited islands of the southernmost atoll of the archipelago. Addu City is the second-largest inhabitance in Maldives, in terms of population, and is the only inhabitance to get the status of “city” other than the capital city, Male’. Addu City has 5 districts. They are Hithadhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Maradhoo, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo. These divisions are naturally islands, but are well connected. Addu Atoll itself has islands in addition to the above, that are uninhabited. For information on these islands, see Addu Atoll.

Famous quotes containing the word city:
“Not to find ones way in a city may well be uninteresting and banal. It requires ignorancenothing more. But to lose oneself in a cityas one loses oneself in a forestthat calls for a quite different schooling. Then, signboard and street names, passers-by, roofs, kiosks, or bars must speak to the wanderer like a cracking twig under his feet in the forest.”
—Walter Benjamin (18921940)
