History

Agrupación Deportiva Ceuta, another team from the city, was founded in 1972 and disappeared in 1991. The club played once in Segunda División, in 1980–81.

In 1996 Asociación Deportiva Ceuta was born, reaching the third level in only two years; in its first decades of existence, it appeared – without success – in five second division promotion playoffs.

On 1 July 2012, Ceuta was relegated to division four due to non-payment of wages to its players.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

History is more or less bunk. It’s tradition. We don’t want tradition. We want to live in the present and the only history that is worth a tinker’s damn is the history we make today.
    Henry Ford (1863–1947)

To history therefore I must refer for answer, in which it would be an unhappy passage indeed, which should shew by what fatal indulgence of subordinate views and passions, a contest for an atom had defeated well founded prospects of giving liberty to half the globe.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)

Throughout the history of commercial life nobody has ever quite liked the commission man. His function is too vague, his presence always seems one too many, his profit looks too easy, and even when you admit that he has a necessary function, you feel that this function is, as it were, a personification of something that in an ethical society would not need to exist. If people could deal with one another honestly, they would not need agents.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
