Across a Wire: Live in New York City (also known as Across a Wire: Live in New York for short) is the third album released by Counting Crows, released on July 14, 1998. It is a double-live album, featuring songs from their first two albums, August and Everything After (1993) and Recovering the Satellites (1996). Because the album contained two discs, the release was certified platinum by the RIAA for shipments of over 500,000 copies.
The first disc, recorded for VH1 Storytellers, is acoustic and intimate; it also contains a previously unreleased hidden track, "Chelsea". The second disc, recorded for MTV's Live from the 10 Spot show, is rocky and direct.

Famous quotes containing the words live and/or york:
“It is painful to be consciously of two worlds. The Wandering Jew in me seeks forgetfulness. I am not afraid to live on and on, if only I do not have to remember too much. A long past vividly remembered is like a heavy garment that clings to your limbs when you would run.”
—Mary Antin (18811949)
“For most visitors to Manhattan, both foreign and domestic, New York is the Shrine of the Good Time. I dont see how you stand it, they often say to the native New Yorker who has been sitting up past his bedtime for a week in an attempt to tire his guest out. Its all right for a week or so, but give me the little old home town when it comes to living. And, under his breath, the New Yorker endorses the transfer and wonders himself how he stands it.”
—Robert Benchley (18891945)
