Accessory Pathway

An accessory pathway is an additional electrical conduction pathway between two parts of the heart. It alters characteristics of the electrical conduction system of the heart, and so has the potential to affect the cardiac cycle.

Conditions involving accessory pathways include:

  • paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia
  • Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome (in which the accessory pathway is referred to as the "bundle of Kent")

Famous quotes containing the word pathway:

    And open field, through which the pathway wound,
    And homeward led my steps. Magnificent
    The morning rose, in memorable pomp,
    Glorious as e’er I had beheld—in front,
    The sea lay laughing at a distance; near,
    The solid mountains shone, bright as the clouds,
    Grain-tinctured, drenched in empyrean light;
