On April 30, 2008, a bill on "academic freedom to teach evidence regarding controversial scientific subjects" (HB 6027) was introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives by representative John Moolenaar. On June 3, 2008, an identical bill (SB 1361) was introduced into the Michigan Senate.
