Services
Arriva Trains Wales services operate to Shrewsbury and Birmingham International approximately every two hours although there are proposals, funded by the Welsh Assembly, to increase the frequency of this service to hourly during 2011. Trains currently call at Borth, Dovey Junction, Machynlleth, Caersws, Newtown, Welshpool, Shrewsbury, Wellington, Telford Central, Wolverhampton, Smethwick Galton Bridge, Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International.
There were proposals for reinstating a direct train to London which stopped running in 1991. The journey would have taken four hours, but the plan was rejected in 2010.

Famous quotes containing the word services:
“True love ennobles and dignifies the material labors of life; and homely services rendered for loves sake have in them a poetry that is immortal.”
—Harriet Beecher Stowe (18111896)
“We now in the United States have more security guards for the rich than we have police services for the poor districts. If youre looking for personal security, far better to move to the suburbs than to pay taxes in New York.”
—John Kenneth Galbraith (b. 1908)
“The community and family networks which helped sustain earlier generations have become scarcer for growing numbers of young parents. Those who lack links to these traditional sources of support are hard-pressed to find other resources, given the emphasis in our society on providing treatment services, rather than preventive services and support for health maintenance and well-being.”
—Bernice Weissbourd (20th century)
