Aberdeen University Sports Union - Colours and Playing Strips

Colours and Playing Strips

The strip uses the four colours of the university crest royal blue, gold, red and white, the design was based loosely on the quarters of the university crest and the previous rugby 1st XV strips. The traditional colours of royal blue and gold had to be supplemented due to Heriot-Watt University carrying out a similar project several years previously and their colours also being royal blue and gold. The away strip was opposite with red as the main.

Famous quotes containing the words colours and, colours, playing and/or strips:

    I should need
    Colours and words that are unknown to man,
    To paint the visionary dreariness
    William Wordsworth (1770–1850)

    Your wits can’t thicken in that soft moist air, on those white springy roads, in those misty rushes and brown bogs, on those hillsides of granite rocks and magenta heather. You’ve no such colours in the sky, no such lure in the distances, no such sadness in the evenings. Oh the dreaming! the dreaming! the torturing, heart-scalding, never satisfying dreaming, dreaming, dreaming, dreaming!
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

    Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright,
    The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light;
    And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout,
    But there is no joy in Mudville—Mighty Casey has struck
    out.
    Ernest Lawrence Thayer (1863–1940)

    Women hate everything which strips off the tinsel of sentiment, and they are right, or it would rob them of their weapons.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
