A City in Winter is a novel by Mark Helprin, first published in 1996. Though it is considered a children's novel, it is mixture of war novel and a satire of bureaucracy, telling the story of a 10-year-old queen's quest to regain her throne.
Famous quotes containing the words city and/or winter:
“But they who give straight judgements to strangers and to those of the land and do not transgress what is just, for them the city flourishes and its people prosper.”
—Hesiod (c. 8th century B.C.)
“Yet seemed it winter still, and, you away,
As with your shadow I with these did play.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
