99 Records (pronounced Nine Nine) was an independent record label active from 1980-1984. 99 was run out of a record store with the same name, located at 99 MacDougal Street in New York City's Greenwich Village, and owned by Ed Bahlman. Terry Tolkin, later an Elektra Records vice president and No.6 Records label head worked there.
Since its demise, the reputation of the label and that of its groups has steadily grown. The label has been cited as a major influence of Franz Ferdinand, Futureheads and LCD Soundsystem, while in 2004, ESG played at All Tomorrows Parties. Liquid Liquid continue to perform periodically.
