5th Man Down (band) - Influences

Influences

5th Man Down has been likened to bands such as The Foo Fighters, Alter Bridge, Tool, Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Faith No More and Incubus, with a predominantly "American rock radio" sound with sung, melodic vocals, intricate guitar work and a heavy, syncopated rhythm section. More eclectic, experimental and heavier influences can be heard in their later material.

A review of their only album by Emma Nixon for Gigs Unlimited likened the band's sound to that of Soundgarden, Disturbed, Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden. "‘We Break Down’ has a heavy and wicked intro to it you can imagine moshing/crowd surfing to at one of their gigs, and has a sort of Ozzy feel to it, until the chorus that is and then it goes into Disturbed mode again."

Famous quotes containing the word influences:

Do not seek anxiously to be developed, to subject yourself to many influences to be played on; it is all dissipation.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I am fooling only myself when I say my mother exists now only in the photograph on my bulletin board or in the outline of my hand or in the armful of memories I still hold tight. She lives on in everything I do. Her presence influenced who I was, and her absence influences who I am. Our lives are shaped as much by those who leave us as they are by those who stay. Loss is our legacy. Insight is our gift. Memory is our guide.
    Hope Edelman (20th century)

I don’t believe in villains or heroes, only in right or wrong ways that individuals are taken, not by choice, but by necessity or by certain still uncomprehended influences in themselves, their circumstances and their antecedents.
    Tennessee Williams (1914–1983)
