Continuity Problems
During the film's attack sequence in the Hudson Bay, the attacking RCAF bombers inexplicably change from Lockheed Hudsons to Douglas Digby aircraft in mid-scene. A Western Canada Airways Fairchild 71 "CF-BJE" configured as a floatplane, is featured prominently in the Hudson Bay sequence. However, the commandeered floatplane that crashes into the lake bears the visible letters "CF-A".
At the conclusion of 49th Parallel, while trying to escape south to the United States at Niagara Falls, the train is supposedly crossing the border bridge from Canada into the U.S. In actuality the train is shown traveling north from the U.S. to Canada, as the camera (shooting north) shows the river flowing from left (west) to right (east). Later, as the credits roll, the train is supposedly reversing north to Canada, yet the camera (again shooting north) shows the train actually going south from Canada to the U.S. as the river again flows from left (west) to right (east).

Famous quotes containing the words continuity and/or problems:
“Every society consists of men in the process of developing from children into parents. To assure continuity of tradition, society must early prepare for parenthood in its children; and it must take care of the unavoidable remnants of infantility in its adults. This is a large order, especially since a society needs many beings who can follow, a few who can lead, and some who can do both, alternately or in different areas of life.”
—Erik H. Erikson (19041994)
“We are all adult learners. Most of us have learned a good deal more out of school than in it. We have learned from our families, our work, our friends. We have learned from problems resolved and tasks achieved but also from mistakes confronted and illusions unmasked. . . . Some of what we have learned is trivial: some has changed our lives forever.”
—Laurent A. Daloz (20th century)
