3D Audio Effect
3D audio effects are a group of sound effects that manipulate the image produced by stereo speakers, surround-sound speakers, speaker-arrays, or headphones. This frequently involves the virtual placement of sound sources anywhere in 3 dimensional space, including behind, above or below the listener.
There are several types of 3D audio effects:
- Those that only widen the stereo image by modifying phase information.
- Those that can place sounds outside the stereo basis.
- Those that include a complete 3D simulation.

Famous quotes containing the word effect:
“Airplanes are invariably scheduled to depart at such times as 7:54, 9:21 or 11:37. This extreme specificity has the effect on the novice of instilling in him the twin beliefs that he will be arriving at 10:08, 1:43 or 4:22, and that he should get to the airport on time. These beliefs are not only erroneous but actually unhealthy.”
—Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950)
