39th Infantry Division (United States) - Between The World Wars

Between The World Wars

After the war, the division was reorganized by Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Louisiana. The re-designation was approved on 1 July 1923, and the 39th Division disappeared from the rolls until after World War II.

Famous quotes containing the words world and/or wars:

There are few places outside his own play where a child can contribute to the world in which he finds himself. His world: dominated by adults who tell him what to do and when to do it—benevolent tyrants who dispense gifts to their “good” subjects and punishment to their “bad” ones, who are amused at the “cleverness” of children and annoyed by their “stupidities.”
    Viola Spolin (b. 1911)

Wars and revolutions and battles are due simply and solely to the body and its desires. All wars are undertaken for the acquisition of wealth; and the reason why we have to acquire wealth is the body, because we are slaves in its service.
    Socrates (469–399 B.C.)
