39th Infantry Division (United States) - Between The World Wars

Between The World Wars

After the war, the division was reorganized by Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Louisiana. Because of the change of geographic area, the National Guard requested the division to be re-designated as the 31st Infantry Division. The re-designation was approved on 1 July 1923, and the 39th Division disappeared from the rolls until after World War II.

Famous quotes containing the words world and/or wars:

Had we but world enough, and time,
This coyness, lady, were no crime.
    Andrew Marvell (1621–1678)

    O how wretched
Is that poor man that hangs on princes’ favours!
There is betwixt that smile we would aspire to,
That sweet aspect of princes, and their ruin,
More pangs and fears than wars or women have,
And when he falls, he falls like Lucifer,
    Never to hope again.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
