24th Street Station (Philadelphia) - Philadelphia Model Railroad Club

Philadelphia Model Railroad Club

The B&O Station building was also home to the Philadelphia Model Railroad Club, which moved to Merchantville, New Jersey in 1962 to be reopened as the Cherry Valley Model Railroad Club. Some of the models and buildings from the PMRC were salvaged, and live on today on the CVMRR layout.

Famous quotes containing the words philadelphia, model, railroad and/or club:

It used to be said that, socially speaking, Philadelphia asked who a person is, New York how much is he worth, and Boston what does he know. Nationally it has now become generally recognized that Boston Society has long cared even more than Philadelphia about the first point and has refined the asking of who a person is to the point of demanding to know who he was. Philadelphia asks about a man’s parents; Boston wants to know about his grandparents.
    Cleveland Amory (b. 1917)

One of the most important things we adults can do for young children is to model the kind of person we would like them to be.
    Carol B. Hillman (20th century)

People who make puns are like wanton boys that put coppers on the railroad tracks. They amuse themselves and other children, but their little trick may upset a freight train of conversation for the sake of a battered witticism.
    Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. (1809–1894)

In another year I’ll have enough money saved. Then I’m gonna go back to my hometown in Oregon and I’m gonna build a house for my mother and myself. And join the country club and take up golf. And I’ll meet the proper man with the proper position. And I’ll make a proper wife who can run a proper home and raise proper children. And I’ll be happy, because when you’re proper, you’re safe.
    Daniel Taradash (b. 1913)
