Famous quotes containing the words air and/or base:

Easily, with a few convulsive quirks, they give up their watery ghosts, like a mortal translated before his time to the thin air of heaven.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is a base thing for a man among the people not to obey those in command. Never in a state can the laws be well administered when fear does not stand firm.
    Sophocles (497–406/5 B.C.)
