The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be the 21st FIFA World Cup, an international association football tournament that is scheduled to take place in 2018 in Russia. The tournament will involve 32 national teams, including that of the host nation. This will be the first time Russia hosts the tournament, as well as the first World Cup in Eastern Europe and the first World Cup hosted in two continents. Russia is also to become the largest nation geographically to host the World Cup, surpassing the United States.
