2008 Bangalore serial blasts occurred on 25 July 2008 in Bangalore, India. A series of nine bombs exploded in which two people were killed and 20 injured. According to the Bangalore City Police, the blasts were caused by low-intensity crude bombs triggered by timers.
Bangalore is the information technology hub of India with more than 40% of the country's IT and software industry based there. India already suffered from a similar series of blasts in Jaipur, in May 2008.
The Times of India has reported that either the banned organisation Students Islamic Movement of India or the militant organisation Lashkar-e-Toiba could be behind these blasts. The Intelligence Bureau is not ruling out the involvement of these organisations, however the police maintain that it is too early to attribute blame to anyone.
This was followed by the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts occurring on 26 July 2008

Famous quotes containing the words serial and/or blasts:
“And the serial continues:
Pain, expiation, delight, more pain,
A frieze that lengthens continually, in the lucky way
Friezes do, and no plot is produced,
Nothing you could hang an identifying question on.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“I have a dream: in my dream ... Aretha Franklin, in her fabulous black-lipstick Jumpin Jack Flash outfit, leaps from her seat at Maxims and, shouting Think!, blasts Lacan, Derrida and Foucault like dishrags against the wall, then leads thousands of freed academic white slaves in a victory parade down the Champs-Elysées.”
—Camille Paglia (b. 1947)
