Yet fed your hunger like an endless task,
Dared dignify the labor, bless the quest
Achieved that stillness ultimately best,”
—Hart Crane (18991932)
“I believe that water is the only drink for a wise man: wine is not so noble a liquor; and think of dashing the hopes of a morning with a cup of warm coffee, or of an evening with a dish of tea! Ah, how low I fall when I am tempted by them! Even music may be intoxicating. Such apparently slight causes destroyed Greece and Rome, and will destroy England and America.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“There are few more impressive sights in the world than a Scotsman on the make.”
—J.M. (James Matthew)

Its the way we talk about and treat one another. Its who makes the money and who makes the compromises and who makes the dinner. Its a state of mind. Its the way we live now.”
—Anna Quindlen (20th century)
