The 2007 Dodge Avenger 500 was the eleventh race of the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, and the 51st edition of the race that began as the Rebel 300, held at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina, a suburb of Florence. The originally scheduled May 12 running was postponed due to rain, and was run the following afternoon, May 13 (Mother's Day in the USA), the second race in two weeks to be rained out. Originally the third night race on the schedule, this also served as the fifth race to utilize the Car of Tomorrow template, as the first four CoT races have been dominated by Hendrick Motorsports leading to some renaming the CoT the "The Hendrick Car of Tomorrow".

Famous quotes containing the words dodge and/or avenger:
“I’m a very smart guy. I haven’t a feeling or a scruple in the world. All I have the itch for is money. I am so money greedy that for twenty-five bucks a day and expenses, mostly gasoline and whisky, I do my thinking myself, what there is of it; I risk my whole future, the hatred of the cops ... I dodge bullets and eat saps, and say thank you very much, if you have any more trouble, I hope you’ll think of me, I’ll just leave one of my cards in case anything comes up.”
—Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
“I must not only punish, but punish with impunity. A wrong is unredressed when retribution overtakes its redresser. It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself felt as such to him who has done the wrong.”
—Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)
