2006 Hopman Cup

The 2006 Hopman Cup (also known as the Hyundai Hopman Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the eighteenth Hopman Cup tournament. The champions were Lisa Raymond and Taylor Dent of the United States. The Netherlands qualified and reached the final. Michaƫlla Krajicek won her singles match, and Taylor Dent beat Peter Wessels. The mixed doubles competition was won in close sets by Raymond and Dent. The event was held at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth on 30 December 2005 through 6 January 2006. This is the first elite-level tennis tournament ever for players challenge calls using the Hawk-Eye technology. Players/Teams can make as many challenges as they want but can only be incorrect twice in a set. Once they make two incorrect challenges, the player/team can no longer make any further challenges until the next set.

Famous quotes containing the word cup:

Sunday morning may be cheery enough, with its extra cup of coffee and litter of Sunday newspapers, but there is always hanging over it the ominous threat of 3 P.M., when the sun gets around to the back windows and life stops dead in its tracks.
    Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
