Competition Notes
The competition was open to skaters from European ISU member nations who had reached the age of 15 before 1 July 2002. The corresponding competition for non-European skaters was the 2003 Four Continents. National associations selected their entries based on their own criteria. Based on the results of the 2002 European Championships, each country was allowed between one and three entries per discipline.
The compulsory dance was the Tango Romantica. Due to the large number of participants, the ladies qualifying round was split into groups A and B.

Famous quotes containing the words competition and/or notes:
“Never before has a generation of parents faced such awesome competition with the mass media for their childrens attention. While parents tout the virtues of premarital virginity, drug-free living, nonviolent resolution of social conflict, or character over physical appearance, their values are daily challenged by television soaps, rock music lyrics, tabloid headlines, and movie scenes extolling the importance of physical appearance and conformity.”
—Marianne E. Neifert (20th century)
“Or bid the soul of Orpheus sing
Such notes as, warbled to the string,
Drew iron tears down Plutos cheek,
And made Hell grant what love did seek;”
—John Milton (16081674)
