2003 Bofrost Cup On Ice

The Bofrost Cup on Ice (previously Sparkassen Cup and Nations Cup) is a figure skating competition which takes place annually in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Figure skaters compete in four disciplines: ladies' singles, men's singles, pairs, and ice dancing. It was part of the Grand Prix series from its inception until 2003, when it was replaced by Cup of China. The 2003 competition was the first when it was not part of the Grand Prix. The 2003 competition debuted a new form of competition. Instead of a short program, singles and pairs perform a jumping and required elements contest, followed then by the long program. Ice dancers perform their original and free dances.

The 2003 Bofrost Cup on Ice took place between November 7 and 9 in the Emscher-Lippe-Halle.

Famous quotes containing the words cup and/or ice:

There is not enough exercise in this way of life. I try to make up by active gymnastics before I dress when I get up, by walking rapidly in the lower hall and the greenhouse after each meal for perhaps five to ten minutes, and a good hand rubbing before going to bed. I eat moderately; drink one cup of coffee at breakfast and one cup of tea at lunch and no other stimulant. My health is now, and usually, excellent.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

The improved American highway system ... isolated the American-in-transit. On his speedway ... he had no contact with the towns which he by-passed. If he stopped for food or gas, he was served no local fare or local fuel, but had one of Howard Johnson’s nationally branded ice cream flavors, and so many gallons of Exxon. This vast ocean of superhighways was nearly as free of culture as the sea traversed by the Mayflower Pilgrims.
