- This was Elliott Sadler's first career win, and the first for the Wood Brothers Racing team since 1993 with Morgan Shepherd.
- It was also the first time cars #21 and #43 took the top two finishing positions since 1977, but the first time since the 1976 Southern 500 that the #21 finished on top when David Pearson beat Richard Petty. As of 2012 it is the most recent time those two cars have finished in the top two spots.

Famous quotes containing the words food and/or city:
“Too much food spoils the appetite, and too much talk becomes worthless.”
—Chinese proverb.
“The Great Society is a place where every child can find knowledge to enrich his mind and to enlarge his talents.... It is a place where the city of man serves not only the needs of the body and the demands of commerce but the desire for beauty and the hunger for community.... It is a place where men are more concerned with the quality of their goals than the quantity of their goods.”
