1998 Australian Open – Women's Singles

This page shows the events and outcome of the 1998 Australian Open – Women's Singles tennis tournament.

Martina Hingis was the defending champion, and she successfully defended her title by defeating Conchita Martínez, 6–3, 6–3. in the final.

This was the first Grand Slam tournament in which Serena Williams competed in the main draw. She drew her older sister Venus in the second round, and was defeated.
