Fact-based drama, starring Craig McLachlan as Stuart Diver - the only man to survive a land slide that engulfed a ski resort in 1997, killing 18 people. Left buried under the rubble, the brave man struggled to let rescue workers know he was alive, but somehow managed to survive in the freezing conditions to become a symbol of hope and bravery for the Australian people. - Story: Many ordinary men and women became heroes on 30 July 1997 when four thousand tons of earth crashed down on two ski lodges in Thredbo village, one of Australia's premier ski resorts. With the injured inaccessible, and the mountain flooded with mud, leaking gas and concrete slabs that threatened to crush all attempts at rescue, local ski instructor Stuart Diver was miraculously discovered 65 hours later, deep below the surface in freezing mud and water.
Heroes' Mountain traces the disaster from the night of the landslide to the incredible rescue of the sole survivor. Not only celebrating one man's refusal to die, this moving and gripping telemovie pays tribute to the professionalism, courage and dedication of the rescuers in the face of a horrific tragedy.
