1989 Italian Grand Prix

The 1989 Italian Grand Prix was a Formula One race held at Monza on September 10, 1989.

Alain Prost won the race. Knowing that he was signed to Scuderia Ferrari for the following season, he dropped the trophy from the podium to the crowd, to the severe disapproval of his team manager Ron Dennis.

Famous quotes containing the words italian and/or grand:

Their martyred blood and ashes sow
O’er all the Italian fields where still doth sway
The triple tyrant; that from these may grow
A hundredfold, who, having learnt thy way,
Early may fly the Babylonian woe.
    John Milton (1608–1674)

It has been said that the immortality of the soul is a “grand peut-ĂȘtre”Mbut still it is a grand one. Everybody clings to it—the stupidest, and dullest, and wickedest of human bipeds is still persuaded that he is immortal.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
