The single reached #14 on the UK Singles Chart and was the highest charting single from her debut album. The song samples Tony Orlando's Lazy Susan. It remains one of Estelle's most well-known hits to date in the UK. The single is also one of her biggest hits in Australia, where "1980" peaked inside the top 40 at #36.
