- The PBA's third season starts on April 17, the league adopted for the first time, three referees were called to officiate the game, the opening game between Crispa and Toyota, where the Redmanizers edge out the Tamaraws, 122-121 was marred by post-game rumble at the Araneta Coliseum dugout involving players from both teams, the brawl sent all of 13 Crispa and 10 Toyota players locked up in the stockade of Camp Crame for 13 hours. PBA Commissioner Leo Prieto fines both teams P 5,000 each for that melee.
- July 12: Mariwasa beats Toyota Tamaraws, 121-114, to set the stage for the first non Crispa-Toyota title-showdown.
- Crispa Redmanizers wins the All-Filipino title and their fifth consecutive championship on July 24, defeating Mariwasa in Game 4, 139-128.
- August 7: Trust beats Most, 135-124, to win the P82,000 battle of PBA superstars at the Araneta Coliseum on a 2-1 score, players from the Trust were; Rudolf Kutch, Rosalio Martirez, Jun Papa, Jesse Sullano, Estoy Estrada, Romy Cabading, Danilo Basilan, Atoy Co, Philip Cezar, Bernie Fabiosa, Freddie Hubalde and Rudy Soriano, the Most line-up were; Manny Paner, Jimmy Mariano, Freddie Webb, Jaime Taguines, Larry Mumar, Johnny Revilla, Robert Jaworski, Francis Arnaiz, Ramon Fernandez, Jess Sta.Maria and Abe King.
- November 29: Crispa beats U/Tex, 90-88 in the deciding Game 5 of the Open Conference finals, for its sixth straight PBA title.
- December 18: Toyota Tamaraws wins the Invitational championship, by routing Emtex Sacronel of Brazil (bannered by Oscar Schmidt) in Game 3, 129-108, to complete the first ever 3-0 finals sweep in PBA history.
