1976 German Grand Prix

The 1976 German Grand Prix (formally the XXXVIII Großer Preis von Deutschland) was a Formula One motor race held at the Nürburgring on 1 August 1976. It is notable as it was the scene of Niki Lauda's near fatal accident. It was also the last Formula One race to be held on the Nordschleife section of the track. The race, contested over 14 laps, was the tenth round of the 1976 Formula One season and was won by James Hunt.

Famous quotes containing the words german and/or grand:

The German language “speaks Being,” while all the others merely “speak of Being.”
    Martin Heidegger (1889–1976)

We are now going through a period of demolition. In morals, in social life, in politics, in medicine, and in religion there is a universal upturning of foundations. But the day of reconstruction seems to be looming, and now the grand question is: Are there any sure and universal principles that will evolve a harmonious system in which we shall all agree?
    Catherine E. Beecher (1800–1878)
