- Rookie Bobby Unser drives one of the Novis to a speed of 149.420 mph, fastest of the afternoon, to line up 16th.
- Rookie Johnny Rutherford bumped Mexican driver Pedro Rodríguez
- Sunday May 26 - Fourth day time trials
