1948 B-29 Lake Mead Crash - Fiction

Fiction

In the 2010 video game Fallout: New Vegas, there is a quest in which the player must use inflatable ballast to raise the sunken B-29 from Lake Mead on behalf of the Boomers, an isolationist, munitions-obsessed faction living in the remains of Nellis Air Force Base. Once the plane has been raised, the Boomers retrieve it and restore it to working order, and in gratitude agree to deploy it against the player's enemies in the game's final battle.

Famous quotes containing the word fiction:

To value the tradition of, and the discipline required for, the craft of fiction seems today pointless. The real Arcadia is a lonely, mountainous plateau, overbouldered and strewn with the skulls of sheep slain for vellum and old bitten pinions that tried to be quills. It’s forty rough miles by mule from Athens, a city where there’s a fair, a movie house, cotton candy.
    Alexander Theroux (b. 1940)

My mother ... believed fiction gave one an unrealistic view of the world. Once she caught me reading a novel and chastised me: “Never let me catch you doing that again, remember what happened to Emma Bovary.”
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

The acceptance that all that is solid has melted into the air, that reality and morality are not givens but imperfect human constructs, is the point from which fiction begins.
    Salman Rushdie (b. 1947)
