1908 Melbourne Carnival - Teams

Teams

The competition took place between two sections, Section A (three teams), and Section B (four teams).

Those in Section A, considered to be the stronger of the two sections, were teams from South Australia, Western Australia, and Victoria. Because only players from the senior Victorian competition of the day, the Victorian Football League (or VFL), were eligible to play for "Victoria", the Victorian team was also referred to as "the VFL".

Those in Section B, considered to be the weaker of the two sections, were teams from New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, and New Zealand.

Famous quotes containing the word teams:

A sturdy lad from New Hampshire or Vermont who in turn tries all the professions, who teams it, farms it, peddles, keeps a school, preaches, edits a newspaper, goes to Congress, buys a township, and so forth, in successive years, and always like a cat falls on his feet, is worth a hundred of these city dolls. He walks abreast with his days and feels no shame in not “studying a profession,” for he does not postpone his life, but lives already.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
