Famous quotes containing the words outstanding, young, man, daytime, drama and/or series:
“For generations, a wide range of shooting in Northern Ireland has provided all sections of the population with a pastime which ... has occupied a great deal of leisure time. Unlike many other countries, the outstanding characteristic of the sport has been that it was not confined to any one class.”
—Northern Irish Tourist Board. quoted in New Statesman (London, Aug. 29, 1969)
“Certainly, words can be as abusive as any blow. . . . When a three-year-old yells, “You’re so stupid! What a dummy!” it doesn’t carry the same weight as when a mother yells those words to a child. . . . Even if you don’t physically abuse young children, you can still drive them nuts with your words.”
—Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)
“I would go fifty miles on foot, for I have not a horse worth riding on, to kiss the hand of that man whose generous heart will give up the reins of his imagination into his author’s hands,—be pleased he knows not why, and cares not wherefore.”
—Laurence Sterne (1713–1768)
“This was your place of birth, this daytime palace,
This miracle of glass....”
—Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
“Film music should have the same relationship to the film drama that somebody’s piano playing in my living room has to the book I am reading.”
—Igor Stravinsky (1882–1971)
“Mortality: not acquittal but a series of postponements is what we hope for.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
