World War II
During World War II, like most Militia units, the 11th Bn performed garrison duties for most of the war. It stayed in WA, joining the 4th Division (Australia). The battalion later saw combat during 1944–1945 in the New Britain Campaign. It was disbanded following the end of the war.

Famous quotes containing the words world and/or war:
“Woman is the future of man. That means that the world which was once formed in mans image will now be transformed to the image of woman. The more technical and mechanical, cold and metallic it becomes, the more it will need the kind of warmth that only the woman can give it. If we want to save the world, we must adapt to the woman, let ourselves be led by the woman, let ourselves be penetrated by the Ewigweiblich, the eternally feminine!”
—Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
“Then down came the lidthe day was lost, for art, at Sarajevo. World-politics stepped in, and a war was started which has not ended yet: a war to end war. But it merely ended art. It did not end war.”
—Wyndham Lewis (18821957)
