Biography
He is a tall, strong centre forward who had a prolific record in Chinese football. He is also a full international for China. He is referred to as the David Beckham of China (due to his popularity with the Chinese tabloid press). Zhang was a pack-a-day smoker, which did not help his fitness levels and health.
English club Leicester City were interested in signing Zhang on loan back in November 2001. However, the Home Office was doubtful that he had not played regularly for the national team, rejecting his application for a work permit. Leicester did rekindle their interest in him in November 2004, after being recommended by Bobby Houghton, though he again failed in his work permit.
He arrived in Australia after being ordered to pay 2.34 million yuan compensation to a fellow team-mate who was left a paraplegic following a car crash in which Zhang, who was driving, was only slightly injured. Yuning Zhang repeatedly failed to make the field or bench of Queensland Roar squads under Frank Farina, and was released without making an impact.

Famous quotes containing the word biography:
“There never was a good biography of a good novelist. There couldnt be. He is too many people, if hes any good.”
—F. Scott Fitzgerald (18961940)
“A great biography should, like the close of a great drama, leave behind it a feeling of serenity. We collect into a small bunch the flowers, the few flowers, which brought sweetness into a life, and present it as an offering to an accomplished destiny. It is the dying refrain of a completed song, the final verse of a finished poem.”
—André Maurois (18851967)
“Just how difficult it is to write biography can be reckoned by anybody who sits down and considers just how many people know the real truth about his or her love affairs.”
—Rebecca West [Cicily Isabel Fairfield] (18921983)
