Completed in 1992 by the architectural firm Arcop, the 10-storey complex is known for its architecture, including a large glassed-in atrium, formerly Fortification Lane. The complex includes other historic elements:
- Nordheimer Building (1888)
- a fragment of the Berlin Wall

The Centre is home to the Montreal InterContinental Hotel, as well as offices, stores and restaurants.
The Centre is connected to Montreal's underground city and to Square-Victoria metro station.
