William Lee Robinson - Career in The Georgia State Senate

Career in The Georgia State Senate

In 1972, Robinson had left active duty and returned to Macon to join the family hardware business. Two years later, Lee Robinson was elected as one of Georgia's youngest state senators and rapidly became one of the Senate's most active members. He is the author of the important "Sunset Law" designed to abolish state agencies and boards that cannot prove their worth, and he fought for public initiative in Georgia during his eight years of service. Robinson also championed the cause of open government. In January 1977, the Bibb County Jaycees named him "Outstanding Young Man of the Year".

Famous quotes containing the words career, georgia, state and/or senate:

I seemed intent on making it as difficult for myself as possible to pursue my “male” career goal. I not only procrastinated endlessly, submitting my medical school application at the very last minute, but continued to crave a conventional female role even as I moved ahead with my “male” pursuits.
    Margaret S. Mahler (1897–1985)

Being a Georgia author is a rather specious dignity, on the same order as, for the pig, being a Talmadge ham.
    Flannery O’Connor (1925–1964)

And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain,
I’ll state my case of which I’m certain.
    I’ve lived a life that’s full, I traveled each and ev’ry highway,
And more, much more than this. I did it my way.
    Frank Sinatra (b. 1915)

What times! What manners! The Senate knows these things, the consul sees them, and yet this man lives.
    Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 B.C.)
