Early Years
William H. Beatty was born in a small village called Monclova, Ohio. He was born on February 18, 1838. His earlier years were spent in Kentucky due to the fact that that is where his parents were originally from, and they decided to move back to their native state. In the year of 1853, his parents once again decided to move, but this time to California. His father then became a successful lawyer, and his expertise in law gave William an advantage in his educational process. When he turned eighteen, he was more than ready to begin college. He spent his college years studying at the University of Virginia.

Famous quotes containing the words early years, early and/or years:
“If there is a price to pay for the privilege of spending the early years of child rearing in the drivers seat, it is our reluctance, our inability, to tolerate being demoted to the backseat. Spurred by our success in programming our children during the preschool years, we may find it difficult to forgo in later states the level of control that once afforded us so much satisfaction.”
—Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)
“In the true sense ones native land, with its background of tradition, early impressions, reminiscences and other things dear to one, is not enough to make sensitive human beings feel at home.”
—Emma Goldman (18691940)
“The years teach much which the days never know.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
