Famous quotes containing the words wildlife, trust, black and/or country:
“Russian forests crash down under the axe, billions of trees are dying, the habitations of animals and birds are layed waste, rivers grow shallow and dry up, marvelous landscapes are disappearing forever.... Man is endowed with creativity in order to multiply that which has been given him; he has not created, but destroyed. There are fewer and fewer forests, rivers are drying up, wildlife has become extinct, the climate is ruined, and the earth is becoming ever poorer and uglier.”
—Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (18601904)
“I stretch lame hands of faith, and grope,
And gather dust and chaff, and call
To what I feel is Lord of all,
And faintly trust the larger hope.”
—Alfred Tennyson (18091892)
“I cut my teeth as the black raccoon
For implements of battle.”
—Countee Cullen (19031946)
“It is only in the country that we can get to know a fellow-being or a book.”
—Cyril Connolly (19031974)
